Mr Bongo is proud to announce the release of ‘Ali Baba’ and ‘Kung Fu Battle Ina Brixton’, the next installment from legendary producer Prince Fatty’s album Prince Fatty Versus the Drunken Gambler.

‘Ali Baba’ is a revamp of one of John Holt’s most famous tracks, with Studio One legend Winston Francis assuming the role of Holt alongside Dennis Alcapone. The B side features Bongo’s very own Horseman on ‘Kung Fu Battle Ina Brixton’. This is the intro track for the album and displays Fatty’s thought process on the album, which has been described as a mix of hip hop fantasy and reggae reality. The concept album follows Prince Fatty’s Western- themed previous offering, Prince Fatty meets The Mutant Hi-Fi in Return of the Gringo.

Listen to ‘Kung Fu Battle Ina Brixton’ here:

Renowned sound engineer and record producer Mike “Prince Fatty” Pelanconi has been a prominent member of the reggae and dub scene in the UK since the mid 90s. Finding himself frustrated by the tempos and mixes of certain records he loved, he set about recording his own versions with a supergroup of London’s reggae musicians.

Earlier this month Mr Bongo commisioned Sinna One to paint this Prince Fatty mural on the side of a pub in Brighton. Check it out here.
